Nebraska has been working to improve the quality and professionalism of infant and toddler care. As part of my program, I want to be a part of that initiative. Abuelita’s Infant and Toddler Center is being developed with those goals. I want to develop a program that offers high-quality care for our community. I have a vision for creating an environment where children can focus on language development, social and emotional development, physical development, and cognitive skills. These four areas of development are very important as children enter this world. To support this goal, all my staff will receive infant and toddler care training, basic medical care training, CPR, First Aid, and self-care training. Staff must take care of themselves and feel supported by their supervisors.

Abuelita’s Infant and Toddler Center wants to partner with parents to build a trusting relationship so that, together, we can support infants' and toddlers’ growth and development. Keeping the bilingual component is a must. We currently serve over 100 children who are exposed to the Spanish language at least 4 hours a day. As our society continues to grow, learning Spanish is very important.

Our community has limited resources, which also limits opportunities to access these services due to income restrictions and time constraints. The plan is to collaborate with organizations to support parents. Early Development Network, WIC, and other resources will be part of the infant and toddler center to start. My plan is to discuss how the center can designate a date each month to meet with parents at nontraditional hours. We want to offer educational opportunities for individuals and families. My focus is to serve children who receive childcare subsidies. My program would also be open during non-traditional hours. Monday-Friday 5:30 am to 10:30 pm. Saturday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The center will also offer care for special-needs children and individuals who need drop-in care.
